On Friday 3rd November 2023 the local municipality listened to the concerns of local parents, worried that drivers are ignoring the crossing their children use to get to school, and upgraded the junction. The Morkel-Jonkershoek junction is designed for flow of traffic, yet it is within a woonerf and many young children use the pedestrian crossing to and from school.
